If you change your mind about your purchase, we will be more than happy to offer you an exchange, voucher or refund as long as:
- You return the product within 28 days of purchase
- You provide proof of purchase
- You originally purchased the product with the intention of keeping
- The item is unused and in it’s original packaging
We do not pay for shipping costs of returning items.
We can only issue a refund or voucher by request when the item is unused and in its original packaging.
Some returns may incur a 20% restocking fee.
Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 (New Zealand)
The Consumer Guarantees Act sets out minimum standards for goods sold by Fish Mechanics Ltd. In the event that goods sold are deficient or are faulty, the retailer has the right to repair, replace or refund.

Fair Trading Act 1986 (New Zealand)
The Fair Trading Act is designed to protect the customer from being misled, either intentionally or unintentionally. This applies to all aspects of the promotion and sale of goods and services including: pricing; where the product was made; where the product is from; the meeting of New Zealand safety standards; availability of products and the sales techniques used. The Commerce Commission enforces the Fair Trading Act 1986.
Where a Blackbow is faulty or damaged due to manufacturing faults we will at our discretion, either:
repair the product; or replace the product; or give you a full refund.
As this is a newly developed product we would appreciate greatly your co-operation in the investigation of any failure. This may include photos and a detailed description of the activities that may have lead to the event, including your most honest opinion and observation of the causes.
As proof of failure, at least one component of the Blackbow must still be in your possession. We cannot replace the product due to faulty connection points, including knots, terminal tackle or mainline.
Mini-Traces will not be covered by this policy, due to the fact that they have a 'built-in’ failure element. This is so that when the rig is put under extreme load you should only ever lose a trace and not your entire investment. We would still very much appreciate your feedback on their performance.
